Denmark is a world leader in design, along with audio technology and Gryphon Audio Designs is a perfect fusion of the two.

Its founder Flemming E. Rasmussen, a lifelong music enthusiast, is a qualified painter and graphic artist, holding his degree from the Aarhus Art Academy. A career encompassing design and the importation of high end Hi-Fi in Denmark eventually led him to his ultimate goal - a manufacture of his own under the now legendary Gryphon brand.

The symbol of this mythical creature was chosen to represent unlimited power, while at the same time conveying graceful ease - the power and finesse which would unravel the complexities and excitement of music.

Under its powerful design aesthetic, Gryphon brings together a team of talented analogue and digital designers to craft beautiful sounding amplifiers and CD players and other fine pieces of audio equipment.

Gryphon products are technically excellent, with overkill power supplies, ultra wide bandwidth and an emphasis on the phase coherence required for correct soundstage reproduction. All Gryphon designs are heavily biased towards Class A to keep transistors well within their most linear operating area and the vast majority of Gryphon products are zero negative feedback designs.

As well as performing in the lab, Gryphon’s digital electronics and amplifiers are assessed against the highest quality references.

Gryphon owns an extensive collection of first and second generation master tapes of studio performances in all musical genres recorded between 1956 and 1976 during the golden age of stereo recording. Gryphon also works closely with a professional recording engineer whose concert recordings allow the frequent opportunity to attend a concert and then listen to the recording immediately after. With the concert experience fresh in mind as an absolute reference, the critical evaluation of home equipment takes on new dimensions, which are reflected in the exacting standards to which every Gryphon product is designed.

As you would expect Gryphon’s designs are the product of long consideration and reflection. They are driven by an uncompromising quest for performance and not by marketing considerations.
