B&O traces its roots right back to 1925 when young engineer Peter Bang teamed up with his friend Svend Olufsen to develop radio products such as the iconic Beolit 39 radio. B&O’s business really took off in the 1950’s when it began working with designer Ib Fabiansen spawning the design-led approach which has remained the hallmark of the company ever since.

B&O went on to draw on the design talents of legends such as Jacob Jensen and David Lewis, producing products which were outstanding in their perfect mix of form and function, and outstanding quality of materials.

Great design is not just about form. Over the years at its headquarters in Struer in Jutland, B&O invested heavily in research into acoustics and the interplay between loudspeakers and their environment.

That work continues today in shaping the latest generation of B&O products such as the Balance, where very clever acoustic engineering delivers room filling sound from a small, very elegant and beautiful unit.
