Copland at Cloney Audio
Danish design is world famous for combining craftsmanship with a style that is simultaneously simple and substantial.
With a history now spanning some thirty years, Copland is a very well established exponent of the Danish flair for design. Founded in the 1980s by Ole Møller, Copland’s products have always sounded as good as they look.
Copland was not Ole Møller’s first foray into audio as he previously worked for Ortofon. And while we all know Ortofon as a maker of fine pickup cartridges, it is important to remember that Ortofon also made the electronics for actually cutting vinyl records. Working on the amplifiers that are needed to handle the very microscopic signals involved in vinyl replay was the ideal training for an amplifier designer.
Today Copland specialises in valve amplifiers, but with a style which is very different to your traditional valve amp.
For example, take the flagship integrated amplifier, the CTA 408, which uses KT150 output valves and is rated at 75 watts per channel. More power could be extracted from these valves, but Copland prioritises long life and reliability. In the words of Hi-Fi News magazine " this may be the best value high end integrated amplifier of the decade - I love it..."
Copland have just introduced a new hybrid integrated amplifier, the SCA 100 which features on board MM phono stage and high quality DAC.
Like all Copland products, this new amplifier offers wonderful sound, great build quality and classic Scandinavian styling designed to give lucky owners years of listening pleasure.

There is a distinctive mood of luxurious puritanism to be found in the appearance of most Copland amplifiers. However, with the CTA407 tube amplifier we have compromised simplicity, introducing a fair deal of electronics supporting the audio stages of the amplifier.
